Mobile Computing Program

Head of Department Message

The program of mobile computing is considered as one of the programs of the Faculty of computer science and informatics in Amman Arab University. It is one of the latest adopted modern trends in information technology.  The program of mobile computing depends on the rapid development of the mobile phone and cloud computing. The program is the first of its kind at the level of the kingdom, and the Arab world; since that the development of the program appeared as a result of the process of the outlook for the briefing in response to the scientific, academic and professional needs, bridging the need for local and regional growing list.

The program of mobile computing is considered to be one of the programs that would be based on changing the pattern of the electronic market companies and institutions.; that has been developed for its uniqueness and lack of specialization in meeting the needs of the local, technological and regional market,  through which the preparation and rehabilitation of distinct graduates with the ability to compete locally and regionally in the development of the applications of integrated  and efficient services will be accomplished. 

The program of mobile computing enables students to acquire theoretical knowledge, practical practice and deal with the tools, methodologies and technology of building, developing and managing the mobile computing projects through learning the basics of computing and communications networks focusing on mobile devices and mobile operating special systems; devices such as Personal Digital Assistant smart phones. The student learns in this specialty the skills necessary to configure and design the special programs of the devices and mobile networks.Top of Form The student will be able to develop new, useful and enjoyable applications stay of various types of mobile computing especially smart phones, which could be developed. This specialty contributes in meeting the qualitative and increasing need of the labor market in the area of mobile applications developers in mobile telecoms sector, telecommunications companies, and information and communications technology.

Graduates of the program of mobile computing (Mobile Computing) can work locally and internationally in several areas, the most important of which are:

  1. Build, develop, manage and protect systems of present and future generations of mobile phone.
  2. Analyze, design and implement various applications on the internet using the mobile.
  3. Build, develop and protect distributed and cloud systems.
  4. Manage the Software projects and contribute in the further development.
  5. Design, develop and build the information systems and manage the various databases.

In the light of the foregoing, the program of the Bachelor Degree in mobile computing is an urgent national need to support the national and regional labor market and stand on the latest developments in the information and communications technology in the field of wireless, smart and mobile networks and their applications.

About the Department

About the Bachelor of Mobile Computing

Mobile Computing aims to provide students with the theoretical and practical skills to build and develop mobile and smart device applications, manage and protect them. In addition, Mobile Computing aims to designing and developing mobile device information systems and their databases, developing and building distributed and cloud systems, designing, managing and operating various wired and wireless networks, simulation, computer graphics, and game programming.

Vision

An entrepreneurial department in the region in delivering graduates specialized in developing, maintaining, operating and managing applications for mobile devices.

Mission

Prepare qualified graduates in the field of Mobile Computing as an effort towards meeting the needs of the local and regional labor markets; capable of accomplishing distinguished projects; capable of helping infrastructure developments and promoting knowledge-based economy; and capable of developing and improving the performance of community organizations.

Objectives

  1. Possess the necessary skills of theoretical and applied knowledge in the field of Mobile Computing. 
  2. Gain the professional competences and practice their profession with confidence locally and regionally.
  3. Continue lifelong learning and professional development amid future technological changes. 
  4. Be active members of teamwork with professional and ethical responsibilities, and know the needs of the community.

Graduates of the program will have an ability to:

1.    Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions. 
2.    Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline. 
3.    Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts. 
4.    Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles. 
5.    Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program's discipline.
6.    Apply computing techniques in mobile-based solution development. [MC]
