Introduction to Amman Arab University

Amman Arab University was established in 1997 by Higher Education Council Resolution No. (1476) dated 24/11/1997, as a private, non-profit university specialized in higher university studies, under the name “Amman Arab University for Graduate Studies”; To be the first Jordanian university specialized in postgraduate programs for masters and doctoral studies; On 9/30/1998, the Higher Education Council granted approval for the university to start teaching by its decision No. (1625), as the university received its first batch of students since the beginning of the second semester of the 1999/2000 academic year. The university's career passed in two phases; -The first: it was limited to postgraduate programs. -The second: It was started in 2009 when the university was strengthened by opening undergraduate programs, and the name of the university was changed to become “Amman Arab University”.

Since the inception of the university, it made every effort to be an effective partner at the national and regional level in enhancing the quality of education, and securing an environment that develops the student’s thinking to be creative and an element that benefits society, in addition to making the university’s environment attractive to students from neighboring and foreign countries.
The university constantly strives to achieve excellence, enhance the spirit of leadership and creativity, provides quality education, and original scientific research, in addition to community service. The university supply the labor market with graduates equipped with knowledge and training to meet the requirements of the labor market. The university works to encourage scientific, critical and creative thinking, and to achieve excellence based on theoretical and applied education. To achieve this, the university is constantly working on developing its study plans to keep pace with developments in a rapidly changing and developing world.
The university promotes pluralism, civilized thinking, cultural interaction and acceptance of the other, and renounces all kinds of intolerance and violence.

A safe and Stable Environment for Studying in Jordan

Jordan is distinguished by its good hospitality and reception. There are more than 40,000 non-Jordanian students representing 107 Arab and foreign nationalities studying in public and private Jordanian universities.


Average Monthly Expenses and Housing Cost for the Student

These costs differ from one person to another depending on the habits and ways of living of the student, but the standard of living for the student in Jordan is much lower than that of Western countries and almost close to the countries of the region, as the average monthly expenditure for food and drink for the student is approximately 180 JD’s per month. Students can rent an apartment, and they can stay alone or share housing with other people.

The costs of accommodation in Jordan vary according to the location, the number of people in the room, and the type of facilities. But it ranges between 60-200 JD’s per student per month. The university can help the student to obtain housing if they need.

Information About Transportation and Health Insurance for University Students

The university provides transportation for its students to and from the university at a cost of 150 JOD per semester.

The university provides health insurance (first class) for its students at a cost of 30 JOD per semester.

Study system, fees, academic degrees (Bachelor's and Master's) and majors Available at the University for non-Jordanian Students.

First: the study system

1- Bachelor’s degree: Each of the majors offered at the university includes a number of credit hours that must be completed in order to obtain the degree. For example, to obtain a bachelor's degree in aircraft maintenance, the student must pass 137 hours of study according to the study plan. The academic year at Amman Arab University is divided into three semesters (first semester, second semester, and summer semester), (the summer semester is optional for the student). The student registers between 12 to 18 credit hours of study in each semester.

2- Master’s degree: Each of the majors offered at the university includes a number of credit hours that must be completed in order to obtain the degree. For example, to obtain a master's degree in computer science, the student must pass 33 credit hours according to the study plan for the major. The academic year at Amman Arab University is divided into three semesters (first semester, second semester, and summer semester). The student registers between 6 to 12 hours per semester. Note that the university provides a thesis track and a comprehensive track for master's programs, and the student can easily switch between the two tracks.

First semester: The semester starts on the 30th of October and ends on the 2nd of February.

Second Semester: The semester begins on the 15th of February and ends on the 7th of June.

Summer semester: the semester begins on June 20 and ends on August 30.
