The importance of information technology cannot be stressed enough as it continually influences our lives on daily basis and our department is dedicated to providing the best educators in the field and the necessary knowledge our students need to meet the job market.

To achieve this, we have a group of qualified and distinguished Professors who are committed to the field. We also provide fully equipped modern computer laboratories and halls. Furthermore, we enrich the university library with the latest books and publications.

The faculty also makes all efforts to develop curricula and study plans that keep pace with scientific developments in order to achieve the goal of Amman Arab University in producing the  leaders of tomorrow.

Based on these overall objectives, our faculty surveyed the market needs and offered specializations that meet these needs. The Majors we offer include mobile computing and software engineering as well as information technology.

About the Program

About the Bachelor of Computer Information Systems

The Program of Computer Information Systems combines practice and theory courses in order to prepare its graduates for careers in fields such as computer networks, database management, web design, and other related filed.  The program focuses on the application of information technology to help the management and operation of organizations. In addition to common education courses required of all undergraduates, the CIS program focuses on network and computing technology and the organizational context in which these technologies are employed to solve business problems.

Vision

Excellence in teaching, learning, scientific research, and community service in computer science and information systems fields locally and regionally.

Mission

Preparing qualified students with competencies in computer science and information systems fields, having the applied and research knowledge and the skills to meet the requirements of the labor market and local community institutions according to quality criteria locally and internationally.

Computer Information System Major Bachelor's Program

Program Mission:

Preparing qualified students in computer information systems fields to meet local and international standards and community requirements according to eLearning criteria.


Educational Program Objectives:

  1. Possess the necessary skills of theoretical and applied knowledge in the field of information systems. 
  2. Gain professional competencies and confidently practice their profession, and regional competitiveness with others.
  3. Continue lifelong learning and professional development amid future technological changes.
  4. Qualifying students to work effectively within teamwork, assume ethical and professional responsibilities and realizing needs of society.


Educational Program Outcomes:
Graduates of the program will have the ability to:

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions. 
  2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline. 
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts. 
  4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles. 
  5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program's discipline.
  6. Support the delivery, use, and management of information systems within an information systems environment. [IS]
