Dr.Shehada from College of Computer Science and informatics at Amman Arab University Publishes an Algorithm for Predicting Soil Temperatures

In a research partnership with the American University of Florida, a faculty member from the College of Computer Sciences and Informatics at Amman Arab University, Dr. Hisham Shehadeh, published an algorithm for a system for predicting temperatures in soil. This algorithm was accepted for publication in a research paper in the journal (Scientific Reports, Springer Nature), which is published in London, and considered as one of the most prominent journals specialized in natural sciences, psychology, medicine, and engineering, with an impact factor equal to (4.6).

Regarding the algorithm, Dr. bShehadeh said that soil temperature is a major atmospheric parameter that plays an important role in determining the rates of physical, chemical and biological reactions in the soil, as the ground temperature can vary greatly depending on the types of land cover and climatic conditions, and therefore correct prediction of soil temperature is essential to accurately simulate Earth's surface processes, he also added that through this study, the artificial neural networks algorithm and the Shehadeh-Genetic Gametes algorithm were linked to estimate and predict soil temperatures at four depths (5, 10, 20, 50 cm) using meteorological data for seven years, obtained from the Archbold Biological Station in South Florida, the results of this study in subtropical grasslands in Florida showed that the proposed algorithm was more accurate in predicting soil temperature than its counterparts.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Shehadeh holds a doctorate in computer science and artificial intelligence from the first public university in Malaysia (University of Malaya), and holds the rank of assistant professor at Amman Arab University and has been working at the university as a faculty member since 2020.
