A Master’s Program in Pharmacovigilance at Amman Arab University

President of Amman Arab University, Professor. Mohamad Al-Widyan, announced the issuance of a decision approving the Council of Higher Education and Scientific Research to establish the first qualitative program in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Middle East for a master’s degree in the specialty “Pharmacogenue and its Legislation” at the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University.

On this occasion, Prof. Al-Widyan praised the qualitative achievements of the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University, the pioneering progress it has achieved, and the qualitative shift that the College of Pharmacy team, headed by its Dean, Professor. Rana Abu Huwaij, was able to bring about, from contemporary university thought to digital transformation, a virtual world, innovation in education, smart halls that keep pace with the future, and research. Solid scientific and unique research skills for undergraduate students.

In turn, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor. Rana Abu Haweij, pointed out the importance of this step in light of the scarcity of specialization and the increasing demand for experts in the field of legislation and pharmacovigilance in the region. Abu Haweij said that the program includes distinguished education that focuses on the topics of legislation and pharmacovigilance, which allows students an in-depth understanding for the legal and scientific aspects related to the pharmaceutical industry, the program aims to qualify experts in this field to enhance drug safety, protect the public from potential risks, and provide safe, effective treatments with zero side effects. The program also provides broad opportunities for graduates to work in health care institutions, the pharmaceutical industry, and scientific research.

It is worth noting that this step achieves the future vision of pharmacy in the second centenary, and meets the directives of the sixteenth Jordanian Pharmaceutical Conference, which included developing policies and programs that enhance the efficiency of the pharmacy profession and enhance awareness of pharmacovigilance to ensure the safety of medicines.
