For the First Time in Jordan, College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University Holds a Clinical Objective Exam

Based on the mission of the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University, which aims to achieve leadership and innovation in the specialty of pharmacy and the importance of developing the teaching process in various courses to prepare a generation of future pharmacists capable of adapting to the changes in professional life and the requirements of the local and international market, the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University held for the first time Once, the OSCE organized an objective clinical examination on campus for students of the University’s College of Pharmacy, within the course of pharmaceutical field training and pharmacology.

The exam included an interactive station that includes a clinical case in which the College of Pharmacy student plays the role of a virtual pharmacist who gives pharmaceutical advice in a correct manner to the virtual patient, in addition to another station that includes a non-interactive clinical case that was presented using the pharmaceutical simulation program Mydispense-AAU, which was provided by the College of Pharmacy. At Amman Arab University, there is distinction and leadership in using it as an evaluation tool within the OSCE exam, for the first time at the level of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as the student searches for incorrect practice or medical errors in the clinical case presented and gives sound solutions through the use of the simulation program.

It is worth noting that the OSCE exam is a clinical exam that supports the learning process and enhances students’ educational outcomes. During it, the student is exposed to practical medical cases that simulate reality. The exam also aims to evaluate the students’ clinical skills and their abilities to deal with clinical cases individually to determine the strengths and weaknesses of performance, in addition ,it provides the opportunity for students to simulate reality and interact directly with the patient. All faculty and administrative staff members at the college participated in the exam, who performed their roles of residents and virtual patients with skill, professionalism, and precision in accordance with the required instructions and instructions.

On this occasion, the Dean of the College, Professor. Rana Abu Haweij, expressed her pride in the achievements of the field training committee headed by Professor Mai Al-Hawamdeh, from training courses and interactive workshops to successfully holding the clinical exam with distinction within the OSCE stations. Abu Haweij also indicated the aspirations of the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University for more Developments and expansions during the next semester.
