College of Pharmacy at “Amman Arab University” Celebrates the Cultural Diversity of Students on “Traditional Medicine among Peoples” Day

Professor. Mohamad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, sponsored the distinguished educational day for the Arab communities at the College of Pharmacy under the slogan “Traditional Medicine among Peoples,” in the presence of Professor. Rana Abu Hweij, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and Professor. Khaled Hamdan, Dean of Student Affairs, along with members of the teaching and administrative staff and students.

The educational day witnessed great interaction among the college students, as they represented their country in the most beautiful artistic painting with the smallest details. They were decorated with traditional heritage clothing, chanted popular proverbs and national anthems, and displayed archaeological collectibles and historical photos that express their cultures and their most prominent practices of folk medicine, folk remedies, and unique medical heritage, in addition to the generous hospitality of some of the famous foods in their country, the educational day included five participants in multiple pavilions organized and prepared by each community, from the State of Palestine to the State of Iraq, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of Yemen, and all the way to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

In turn, Prof. Al-Widyan explained the importance of this event at the university in promoting cultural exchange between communities, appreciating and respecting cultural diversity, and building bridges of positive communication and mutual understanding between students of different nationalities, which contributes to building an integrated university community.

The Dean of the College indicated that traditional or folk medicine is a group of medical knowledge and practices that extends over a long period and relies on the theories and authentic beliefs of different cultures, as traditional medicine is considered an important part of the cultural heritage of peoples, as knowledge is transmitted from generation to generation, in addition to that it focuses on The relationship between the mind and body is considered an integral part of the health and cultural heritage of societies. It also includes various therapeutic methods, such as the common use of medicinal herbs and energy healing.
