A Lecture on "University Violence" for Students at Amman Arab University

The Deanship of Student Affairs, in cooperation with the College of Arts and Sciences/Military Sciences Division at Amman Arab University, organized an awareness lecture for University students entitled “University Violence,” presented by Captain Amna Hamdo Al-Habashna/Military Sciences Division, in the presence of: Brigadier General Khaled Mahmoud Al-Shamayleh/Head of the University Education Department, and Lieutenant Colonel Corner Yazan Al-Hijna.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor. Khaled Bani Hamdan, Dean of Student Affairs, welcomed the University guests and attendees, and conveyed to them the greetings of the University President, Professor. Mohamad Al-Widyan, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Wafa’ Al-Eid, and the team of the Deanship of Student Affairs.

During the lecture, Captain Al-Habashna spoke about the concept of university violence and explained that violence is a social phenomenon linked to family circumstances and the prevailing relationships and methods of socialization, and that there are several psychological, economic, social and other factors that lead to the exacerbation of this phenomenon in society in general and in universities in particular.

It also showed the effects resulting from university violence, whether physical, psychological, or economic abuse that results from attacks on university property. It also spoke about ways to prevent university violence by promoting the language of positive dialogue among university students, educating students about the necessity of respecting the opinion and opinion of others, and holding lectures. Educational and awareness-raising for students about the regulations and laws in force at the university, making them aware of their rights and duties, explaining the consequences of their engaging in any behavior that is inconsistent with the regulations and instructions at the university, spreading the spirit of cooperation and love among students, and involving them in curricular and extracurricular activities organized by the University.

At the end of the meeting, the Dean of Student Affairs and Captain Al-Habashna answered the students’ questions and inquiries and honored Prof. Bani Hamdan, the university’s guest, Brigadier General Khaled Al-Shamayleh.
