Academic Certificates Prestige
By: Prof. Dr. Younes Megdadi

Science is considered one of the jewels of human life if a person is armed with it in all his specializations, as it is the real key to changing the conditions of life in all its components and dimensions, which helps in extending human societies with strength towards development, elevation, urbanization and societal advancement at all levels. Proceeding from this principle, it is self-evident that a person is motivated to obtain academic degrees to contribute, each according to his specialization and academic degree, to self-realization and the renaissance of society in its various sectors.

Based on the fact that education and obtaining academic degrees is an acquired right for all, we have noticed over the past decades a great interest in education and its various stages and academic degrees, but what we are witnessing today is that education has become not for the sake of learning as much as it is for the fulfillment of many goals and there is a long talk about it.

As a matter of comparison, the status of the educated person was manifested by his abundant knowledge, his luminous thought, and his high culture that accompanies his personality, which was appreciated and appreciated by all classes of society. Unfortunately, this image was formed in light of a number of reasons, the most prominent of which are the conditions and pressures of life, personal motives, social prestige, pride, job, marriage, etc., which imposed themselves on the personality and thought of the learners of our time, which formed a trend towards education in order to obtain these academic degrees, especially the higher ones.

The increasing demand for education locally and globally in exchange for obtaining academic certificates, regardless of their sources, has become attractive in exchange for benefiting from them and for personal and social gains such as scientific title and sitting in the first row in social and functional events and others, which indicates that scientific certificates have become an artificial card that praises There are some of them, no more and no less, which we find ourselves far from the highness of the message of education and learning and the goals of obtaining those academic certificates, which are supposed to be respected and appreciated. Rather, this behavior has contributed to upsetting the societal balances towards education and scientific degrees, and therefore we find it difficult not to distinguish between chaff and fat.

The practice of such concepts towards obtaining academic degrees has posed a new challenge that many specialists are discussing and has been described as intrusive, because scientific certificates are not a commodity as some believe, but rather documents that transcend and aim towards cultural and intellectual development and the making of minds, and not for the social and personal aspects that some claim to believe. It completes some of the shortcomings.

Accordingly, we see that the main goal of obtaining academic degrees is not to achieve personal interests or gains as much as it carries with it messages of human and civilized responsibility with multiple meanings that enable societies to civilize, advance and develop in all areas and fields in harmony with the aspirations of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein the greatest and his trustworthy Crown Prince, may God protect and preserve them.
