Students of Amman Arab University (AAU) Excel in the Incubation Project for the Ministry of Digital Economy's Hackathon for the Top 100 Entrepreneurial Ideas
In line with Amman Arab University's support for its students in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation, a team of university students participated in the incubation project for the Ministry of Digital Economy's Hackathon for the top 100 entrepreneurial ideas. The event was held as part of the public policy projects for entrepreneurship and implemented through the business incubators and accelerators affiliated with the Orange Digital Center. The closing ceremony of the project featured a showcase of the most prominent participating entrepreneurial ideas.
The program included 100 entrepreneurial ideas from across the Kingdom, led by young men and women possessing passion, ambition, and creativity in vital sectors of national priority such as renewable energy, agricultural technology, education, and tourism. Over six months, participants underwent an intensive training experience that included specialized practical training in financial management, marketing, project management, artificial intelligence, and design thinking, alongside individual and group mentoring sessions, networking opportunities with experts and entrepreneurs, and access to the facilities of the Orange Digital Center to develop their projects and transform them into viable, marketable models.
The startup team "Hear Me" from Amman Arab University, incubated at the University's Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, participated in the program. The team consists of student Ahmad Rashid, majoring in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and student Hidaya Yaseen, majoring in Software Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Kamal Aliyan, Assistant Dean of the College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University. The team launched a specialized platform to serve the deaf community in Jordan, which translates sign language into written Arabic – specifically the Jordanian dialect – in a way that addresses the medical needs of the deaf. This makes it an entrepreneurial project with both humanitarian and technical dimensions.
In this regard, Dr. Kamal Aliyan affirmed that this achievement would not have been possible without the continuous efforts and collaboration of the team. He indicated that reaching the market-ready pilot stage represents a significant step towards developing the project and transforming it into a tangible product that serves the community. He added that the faculty members at Amman Arab University consistently work to discover and support entrepreneurial students, empowering them to turn their ideas into impactful, real-world projects.
For his part, Dr. Samer Ayasrah, Director of the Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at Amman Arab University, emphasized that the Center has been and remains the primary incubator and supporter of entrepreneurial ideas at the University. He reiterated its commitment to providing a supportive environment, necessary resources, and continuous guidance for every creative and ambitious idea, aiming to elevate these projects to advanced levels of development and implementation.
Amman Arab University expresses its pride in its innovative students and their active participation in national entrepreneurial events, reaffirming its continued commitment to adopting and supporting entrepreneurial talents, thereby reinforcing its position as a leading university in innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation.
