New Achievement for Pharmacy at Amman Arab University (AAU): Master's Program in Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs Anchored within the National Qualifications Framework

In pursuit of its strategic objectives and aspirations to enhance the quality of academic programs, and striving for excellence and leadership in pharmaceutical education to align programs with labor market needs while boosting graduate competitiveness and innovation across various health and pharmaceutical fields, the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University has achieved a significant milestone. Through the dedicated efforts of its academic and administrative staff, the Board of the Higher Education Accreditation Commission and Quality Assurance, chaired by Professor Dr. Thafer Al-Sarayreh, has approved the anchoring of the qualification for the Master of Pharmacy in Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs within the Jordanian National Qualifications Framework. This program is the first of its kind in the Middle East.

On this occasion, Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, emphasized the university's continuous pursuit of excellence and distinction across various academic, research, and community service domains. He noted that this achievement aligns with the university's vision and strategic plan for continuous improvement and development, expressing his appreciation for this qualitative accomplishment. It enhances the alignment of learning outcomes with local, regional, and international labor market requirements and solidifies the university's position as a leading educational institution in excellence and innovation.

For her part, Professor Dr. Rana Abu Huwaij, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University, explained that the anchoring and national and international recognition of the program represents a significant milestone in the college's journey toward enhancing the quality of pharmaceutical education and achieving prestigious accreditations. She added that the program, launched in the 2023/2024 academic year, is nearing the graduation of its first cohort—a qualitative achievement reflecting the college's commitment to local and international standards in pharmaceutical education. She further noted that the college had previously obtained American Accreditation (ACPE) for pharmaceutical education, alongside the anchoring of its Bachelor of Pharmacy program, demonstrating its commitment to an institutional approach that keeps pace with global developments and enhances its status as a distinguished academic edifice in leadership and innovation.

It is noteworthy that the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University, within its future aspirations, seeks to strengthen its academic and research partnerships with prestigious global universities and centers. It also aims to develop specialized graduate programs that meet the needs of the regional and international job markets. Among its priorities is adopting the latest methods of pharmaceutical education based on innovation and applied research, ensuring the preparation of graduates capable of effective competition and contributing to the development of the healthcare sector and pharmaceutical industries.
