New Research Achievement by Amman Arab University's Faculty of Pharmacy at PESPC 2025 in Doha
As part of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University's ongoing efforts to strengthen its academic and research presence both locally and internationally, and in line with its commitment to academic excellence and advancing pharmaceutical research, Dr. Sama Taha, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, participated in the Pharmacy Education, Science, and Practice Conference (PESPC) 2025. Held under the theme "Patient First" at Qatar University in Doha, the conference provided a platform for groundbreaking pharmaceutical research.
Dr. Sama presented a scientific study titled "Targeted Drug Delivery Systems for Lung Cancer Treatment," which explored innovative strategies to address lung cancer—a disease responsible for approximately 1.8 million deaths annually worldwide. The research emphasized the importance of developing smart drug delivery systems to enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy treatments through precise tumor cell targeting.
In her study, Dr. Sama examined the design of drug carriers that bind to specific biomarkers in lung cancer cells, improving drug bioavailability while minimizing side effects. This approach relies on optimizing molecular linkages to enhance intracellular drug absorption. Notably, the conference is indexed in the Scopus database, and the research was published in Pharmaceutical Development and Technology, a journal by Taylor & Francis.
This participation underscores the Faculty of Pharmacy’s dedication to advancing academic and research contributions in pharmaceutical sciences, supporting innovative therapeutic solutions that benefit both local and global communities.
