
Amman Arab University (AAU) Pharmacy Graduate Conducts Awareness Workshop on the Pharmacist's Professional Role in Combating Drugs
Demonstrating Amman Arab University's commitment to maintaining strong connections with its graduates and strengthening ties with the job market, and under the directives of the University President, Professor Dr. Mohamed Al-Widyan, the Faculty of Pharmacy hosted graduate pharmacist Falastine Abdelsalam Teem. Ms. Teem, who works at the Addiction Treatment Center in Shufa Badran, affiliated with the Ministry of Health, conducted a workshop titled: "The Pharmacist's Professional Responsibility in Combating Drugs."
During the workshop, Pharmacist Falastineh presented the most prominent types of traditional and synthetic narcotic substances, explaining their methods of use, their health and psychological effects on addicts, in addition to their negative repercussions on the family and society. She also addressed the treatment methods followed in addiction treatment centers and the challenges faced by healthcare workers in this field.
She emphasized the pivotal role of the pharmacist in combating drugs, both through monitoring the dispensing of narcotic and psychotropic medicines, and by contributing to health education and awareness programs, as well as participating in national initiatives aimed at reducing this scourge.
The workshop featured significant interaction from the students, who asked a number of questions and inquiries about their future role as pharmacists in enhancing community awareness and supporting national efforts to combat addiction. Pharmacist Falastineh answered their questions and provided valuable advice to enhance their academic and professional readiness.
For her part, Professor Dr. Rana Abu Huwej, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University, honored Pharmacist Falastineh. She expressed pride in the achievements of the University's graduates and their continued contribution to engaging with their peers still studying. She stated that this workshop embodies the Faculty of Pharmacy's mission to prepare qualified and competent pharmacists who shoulder their professional and humanitarian responsibilities and actively participate in national efforts to combat drugs.
