
Amman Arab University (AAU)Continues Excellence in NASA Space Apps Challenge Jordan 2025
In an exceptional achievement reflecting the spirit of innovation and excellence among Amman Arab University students, Team "TechNest," affiliated with the IEEE-AAU Student Branch from the College of Information Technology, secured fourth place at the kingdom level in the NASA Space Apps Challenge – Amman 2025. The event was held at the King Hussein Business Park. This achievement qualifies the team to participate in the Global Stage, as part of the world's largest space innovation competition, reflecting Amman Arab University's commitment to developing students' skills and enhancing their presence in international scientific competitions.
The team presented an innovative project titled "The Living Planet," utilizing Virtual Reality (VR) technologies to provide an interactive scientific experience. The project converts NASA data into a living virtual environment that visually displays environmental and climatic changes in an impressive way, making it easier for everyone to understand these changes and enhancing scientific awareness. The team consisted of: Student Ali Jehad Al-Ashqar, Student Lynn Hani Al-Rashdan, Student Huthaifah Mahmoud Daraghmeh, Student Ahmad Emad Za'ror, and Student Ahmad Murad Dayf Allah. This achievement is the fruit of creativity and teamwork by students from the College of Information Technology and IEEE-AAU members, who have proven their ability to compete globally and placed the name of Amman Arab University and its IEEE Student Branch on the map of international innovation.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, emphasized the importance of the university and its students participating in such international events that enhance creativity and scientific thinking skills and open avenues for research collaboration and innovation with global institutions. He indicated that the university is committed to supporting innovation, enhancing students' skills at the national and international levels, and encouraging them to participate in global scientific competitions that open broad horizons for development and excellence.
In this context, Dr. Lyal Al-Zabin, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and the Academic Advisor for the IEEE-AAU Student Branch, participated as a member of the judging panel during the challenge events. She evaluated the projects of participating teams from various Jordanian universities and schools, affirming that such initiatives contribute to empowering youth to employ scientific knowledge in developing realistic and sustainable solutions for environmental, space, and technology issues.
