Dr. Mourad Shakib from "Amman Arab University" Publishes Two New Books on Fasting and Calling to Allahه
Amman – Al-Badeel Publishing House has released two new books by Dr. Murad Shakib, Head of the Islamic Studies Department at the College of Sharia at Amman Arab University. The books address two significant topics in Islamic jurisprudence and Da'wah (Islamic outreach), reflecting the author's focus on contemporary issues and providing well-grounded scholarly analysis.
The first book, titled "The Rulings of Fasting and Night Prayer and Their Key Contemporary Issues," delves into the detailed rulings and etiquettes of fasting while highlighting modern-related matters, such as determining the month through astronomical calculations and the impact of modern medical treatments on fasting. The book also explores the spiritual dimensions of this great act of worship, emphasizing the importance of sincerity and piety, inspired by the Quranic verse: "O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous." Additionally, it underscores the significance of night prayers during Ramadan, in accordance with the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever stands (in prayer) during Ramadan out of faith and hope for reward, his previous sins will be forgiven." The book uniquely combines the methodologies of hadith scholars and jurists, incorporating resolutions from contemporary fiqh councils, giving it both academic depth and practical relevance.
The second book, "Calling to Allah and the Wisdom of the Caller in Contemporary Issues," discusses the methods of Da'wah with wisdom and insight, based on the Quranic verses: "Say, 'This is my way; I invite to Allah with insight, I and those who follow me,'" and "Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction." Dr. Shakib examines the approaches a caller to Islam should adopt when addressing modern societal challenges, such as poverty, wars, famines, addiction, and other pressing issues. He highlights the importance of choosing effective methods to convey the message of Islam and achieve its intended impact.
Dr. Shakib is an Associate Professor at the College of Sharia at Amman Arab University. He holds a PhD in Hadith and its Sciences from the International Islamic Sciences University in Jordan and a Master’s degree in the same field from Al al-Bayt University. He has authored several research
