Amman Arab University (AAU) Students Secure Second Place in the SIMERA-MENA 2025 AI Challenge

As part of Amman Arab University’s ongoing efforts to foster leadership, excellence, and innovation among its students, the Faculty of Information Technology has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing second place in the SIMERA-MENA 2025 AI Challenge. The competition was hosted at Al Hussein Technical University and saw participation from over 140 teams from both public and private Jordanian universities. It was organized by SIMERA, a global recruitment company, and stands as one of the most prominent competitions focused on applying artificial intelligence technologies in the field of recruitment.

The team InnovAlxis, consisting of student Omar Al-Sawafin (Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department), student Amer Ghaith, and student Abdulrahman Al-Qaisi (Cybersecurity Department), achieved this qualitative accomplishment by earning second place among all public and private universities in Jordan. The team was supervised by Dr. Ahmad Al-Ajarmah, a faculty member in the Faculty of Information Technology, who played a pivotal role in guiding the students, refining their ideas, and supporting them step-by-step until this outstanding result was achieved. Dr. Al-Ajarmah emphasized that participation in such competitions represents a real opportunity to enhance students' skills and connect them with global experiences in the field of artificial intelligence.

The innovative project developed by the students of Amman Arab University offers cutting-edge solutions in digital recruitment by creating an intelligent platform that serves as a direct link between job seekers and major global companies. The team leveraged Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies, a key branch of artificial intelligence, to analyze resumes with high accuracy and identify linguistic variations within them. This significantly improves the match rates with available job vacancies. The solution helps save time and effort for both job seekers and employers while enhancing employment opportunities with greater efficiency and higher quality. Through this project, the students demonstrated their ability to turn academic ideas into practical projects that meet the needs of both local and global job markets.

In this context, Dr. Rami Sehwail, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at Amman Arab University, emphasized the importance of continuing to actively participate in such scientific competitions, which enrich the educational experience and enhance students' creative capabilities. He noted that such participation strengthens the bonds between the Faculty and its students and opens broad horizons for them to engage with the latest global trends. Dr. Sehwail reaffirmed the Faculty’s steadfast commitment to providing continuous support to its students and to developing a modern, flexible educational environment that keeps pace with the evolving demands of the job market, enabling graduates to compete strongly at both local and regional levels.
