Amman Arab University (AAU) Promotes Health Awareness at a local community School
In the interest of fulfilling its social responsibility and serving the local community, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University (AAU) organized a comprehensive health awareness lecture at the Muthalath Muleeh Basic Mixed School. This initiative, which targeted ninth-grade female students, was presented by Dr. Nusaiba Al-Qutaish, a faculty member at the university, as part of a continuous series of efforts to provide community service.
The workshop focused on defining infectious diseases as medical conditions caused by viruses and bacteria that are capable of spreading between individuals, particularly in crowded school environments. The lecture covered various health topics, including respiratory illnesses such as seasonal influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). It also addressed other common infections, including various skin and intestinal diseases. Furthermore, the session focused on immune support, explaining the role of the immune system and how to improve its efficiency through healthy nutrition and adherence to the National Vaccination Program.
To ensure the students understood the practical application of these health concepts, the program included several interactive activities: Such as "The 30-Second Challenge": This activity taught the correct method for washing hands, emphasizing it as the primary line of defense against germs. Furthermore, "The Health Detective": This allowed students to analyze hypothetical cases, diagnose them, and identify the correct healthy behaviors to handle them.
Professor Rana Abu Huwaij, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, reaffirmed the university's commitment to supporting awareness initiatives that target local and remote communities. She stated that these efforts align with the university's vision to connect academic knowledge with humanitarian work and strengthen its role in social service.
The event was coordinated with the school principal, Ms. Zainab Al-Qbailat, and the educational counselor, Ms. Aisha Al-Fuqaha. The school administration expressed its appreciation for Amman Arab University’s role in building bridges with educational institutions and providing students with the health knowledge necessary to prevent infection, which supports a safe learning environment.
