
IEEE Student Branch at Amman Arab University Excels Among Jordanian Universities
In a new achievement to add to Amman Arab University’s distinguished record of excellence, the university received special recognition from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) – Jordan Section. This honor was awarded for the outstanding and active role played by the IEEE Student Branch at Amman Arab University through organizing numerous scientific, volunteer, and student activities. These initiatives have positively impacted both the university community and beyond, fostering a spirit of innovation and leadership among students. The recognition took place during the annual meeting held at the Landmark Hotel, with broad participation from representatives of Jordanian universities, engineers, and experts in engineering and technology fields.
On the sidelines of this event, the student branch president, Fakhri Al-Tamimi, presented an appreciation shield to Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of the University, in gratitude for the university’s continuous support of the student branch. Dr. Al-Widyan expressed his pride in this honorable achievement, which crowns exceptional efforts made in a short period since the branch’s establishment. He emphasized that this recognition reflects the university’s growing stature in supporting innovation and student excellence, embodying its deep belief in students’ capabilities and empowering them to lead at various levels. He reiterated his commitment to supporting student initiatives that align with the university’s vision of excellence and enhance its reputation as a leading academic institution locally and internationally.
In this context, Dr. Layal Al-Zaben, the academic advisor of the IEEE-AAU Student Branch and a faculty member at the College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University, stated that this achievement is the result of continuous efforts and teamwork between students and faculty members. She affirmed that the student branch remains dedicated to delivering innovative initiatives aimed at enhancing students' skills, contributing to their active participation in both the academic and professional communities.
It is worth noting that since its establishment, the IEEE Student Branch at Amman Arab University has received unwavering support from the university administration, represented by Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of the University; Dr. Hussam Al-Hamad, Assistant President for Planning and Quality Assurance; Dr. Anwar Al-Asaf, Dean of the College of Engineering; and Dr. Rami Sahwil, Dean of the College of Information Technology. Their direct support and diligent follow-up have significantly contributed to the branch’s successful initiatives and its active role within and beyond the university. Additionally, the assistant supervisors—Dr. Bishar Badr, Dr. Omar Al-Akash, Dr. Ayman Al-Agha, and Dr. Walaa Al-Amri—played a pivotal role in mentoring and guiding students, helping them develop their skills and expand their participation in local and international activities and competitions.
The students of the IEEE Student Branch at Amman Arab University have set an exemplary model of teamwork and initiative.
