
Amman Arab University Celebrates Its Silver Jubilee… A Quarter-Century Journey of Leadership and Excellence
In a celebratory scene that embodies the spirit of belonging and pride, reflecting the deep bond between the university and its staff who have contributed to its achievements over a quarter of a century, Amman Arab University celebrated its 25th anniversary. The splendid evening, adorned with knowledge and pride, was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr Dr. Omar Mashhour Al-Jazi, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, and attended by His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jazi, Engineer Ahmad Al-Khalid, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of the University, alongside members of the Board of Trustees, vice presidents, deans of colleges, directors of centers, offices, and administrative units, as well as faculty and administrative staff at Sheraton Hotel – Amman.
Dr. Al-Jazi began his speech by praising the blessing of knowledge that illuminates the paths of nations, commending the remarkable journey of Amman Arab University since its establishment in 1999. He emphasized that the university has been and remains a model of leadership and excellence, a true beacon contributing to the nation’s progress and embodying the mission of advanced education that embraces and safeguards the future. He noted, "We celebrate the silver jubilee of a university that has always been a beacon of knowledge and scholars, distinguished by its excellence and leadership, and has cemented its prominent position at both national and regional levels, remaining a role model in education, innovation, and community service." He added that since its inception, Amman Arab University has been committed to building an inclusive educational environment that embraces diversity and promotes moderation.
Al-Jazi praised the innovative academic programs offered by the university, most notably the College of Aviation Sciences and the College of Applied Medical Sciences, which respond to market needs and continuous development. He also highlighted the diversity of its colleges and centers, which have played a pivotal role in bridging generations through the knowledge-based foundation it has established. The university has consistently sought to prepare graduates equipped with the knowledge and essential skills to succeed in the job market with competence and efficiency. He stressed that the university’s journey of excellence is the result of collective efforts from all its members, adding, "Today, we take pride in what has been achieved and look to the future with confidence, guided by the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein in developing Jordanian higher education. We will continue to support this academic institution to remain at the forefront of universities locally, regionally, and globally."
For his part, Dr. Al-Widyan expressed his pride in all that Amman Arab University has accomplished, affirming that the university has achieved significant milestones over the years in various fields. He presented a detailed overview of the university’s developmental stages since its founding, highlighting its distinguished academic and administrative achievements, the enhancement of scientific research, and its commitment to social responsibility, along with the prestigious academic accreditations it has obtained in recent years. The presentation also touched on the notable increase in student numbers, the introduction of new specializations to meet local, regional, and international labor market demands, and the university’s active role on social media, reflecting its success in reaching a broad audience and enhancing community engagement.
Al-Widyan noted that the university is witnessing remarkable academic expansion and qualitative leaps in global rankings. Amman Arab University—the university of leadership and excellence—has secured the top position among Jordanian private universities in the SCIMAGO ranking and other classifications, reflecting its unwavering commitment to academic excellence and scientific innovation, further solidifying its status as a leading institution striving for distinction in all fields.
Engineer Ahmad Al-Khalid, Chairman of the Board of Directors, expressed his immense pride in the qualitative achievements and prestigious academic reputation of Amman Arab University, emphasizing that the student remains the core focus of all university policies and programs. He stated, "We firmly believe that building human capital is the greatest investment, and since its establishment, our mission has been to cultivate a creative, knowledgeable generation capable of driving change and making a difference in their homeland, society, and the world." He added that this vision is embodied daily through an integrated academic system, quality educational programs, and innovative initiatives that place students at the heart of the academic experience, preparing them to be influential leaders in development and progress. He also highlighted the university’s strong emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship through the establishment of the Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Center, as well as initiatives to nurture student ideas and guide them in implementing pioneering projects, fostering a stimulating and thriving university environment.
The celebration included a documentary film showcasing the university’s journey of development over the years, featuring its colleges, modern facilities, and pioneering initiatives, along with advanced equipment in classrooms and laboratories. The film also highlighted virtual tours allowing students to explore the university and showcased teaching methodologies utilizing Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies, reflecting the university’s vision of integrating modern technology into education. Additionally, the film demonstrated the significant progress the university has achieved in all academic and administrative aspects, enhancing the student learning experience and aligning with the latest trends in higher education.
At the end of the ceremony, hosted by the master of ceremonies, Mr. Waddah Musmar, Director of the Media and Public Relations Department, longtime university employees were honored in recognition of their invaluable contributions to building this distinguished academic institution. Faculty and administrative staff who excelled in their performance and made exceptional contributions to enhancing education and academic services were also recognized. Additionally, colleges that earned prestigious international accreditations were honored, along with faculty members who obtained patents, internationally funded research projects, and those distinguished in scientific research, including the best faculty member, best administrative employee, and best public service employee. The College of Sharia was honored for its initiative in establishing the university mosque, and colleges and departments that achieved the highest key performance indicators for 2023-2024 were recognized, underscoring the university’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and quality at both local and international levels.
