 Amman Arab University hosted on the Centennial Stage on Thursday, 9/22/2022 the International Congress for Social Responsibility in its third edition under the slogan “Towards Adopting the Initiative of a Guiding Book for the Standard Specification for Social Responsibility in the Arab Countries”, which was organized by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility and in cooperation with  Amman Arab University, under the generous patronage of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Maatouq Al-Maatouq, who held several ministerial and senior positions in Kuwait and is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Islamic Charitable Organization and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and in the presence of Prof. Mohamad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University,  His Excellency Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, His Excellency Professor Youssef Abdel Ghaffar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, His Excellency Dr. Nabil bin Hamad Al-Oun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al-Salam Charitable and Humanitarian Association, in addition to a number of personalities, including Her Highnesses and Sheikhs  and their Excellencies from the Arabian Gulf and Sudan, and His Excellency Munib Al-Masri from Palestine.
 
During his opening speech, Al-Maatouq spoke about the International Islamic Charitable Organization as one of the Kuwaiti charitable institutions that throughout its history spanning nearly 40 years, has been able to implement more than 25,000 projects around the world, noting that the value of the aid it provided to millions of beneficiaries exceeded 1.3 billion dollars.  He thanked all those responsible for the success of this event, in addition to his thanks to the Amman Arab University for the hospitality and reception. He added that Kuwait believes that social responsibility is a legitimate duty and a moral obligation dictated by the human conscience, and that official and private Kuwaiti charitable institutions have always given the file of social responsibility a top priority.

 In turn, Dr. Al-Widyan said that social responsibility played an important role in the progress and development of many societies, pointing out that the "Arab world" is in dire need to activate the role of social responsibility to achieve development and prosperity.  Al-Widyan stressed the importance of the conference in promoting new methods, concepts and behavioral patterns for community service, indicating that Amman Arab University and in implementation of the lofty visions of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein is one of the Jordanian universities that has taken upon itself to bear this responsibility towards the local community and to play this pioneering role with all it has  capabilities, and constantly strives to work on strengthening this responsibility to make achieving it a national and scientific duty, and to provide this through the presence of a special office for social responsibility at the university that works according to an advanced and unique model locally and regionally that deserved honor recently from the League of Arab States in Cairo, adding that the university has spent more than  $1.5 million in the last two years in this field through many aspects of activity and events
In his opening speech, Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out in his speech the orientation of this important forum to become a global institution, and added that it is necessary to talk about and take into account the main points that relate to linking the outcomes of this meeting with the ideas of the United Nations, in several respects such as: human rights, work  environment, anti-corruption, and community service, with the need to focus on all matters related to the environment due to its importance at the present time.
 
 The participants in the one-day conference discussed topics related to global social responsibility standards and standards, by addressing national, regional and international references, and the role of standards and standards for social responsibility, and presented success stories in social responsibility applications and alignment with international standards and standards in Arab institutions.
 The participants also discussed a proposed work model for an Arab project to build a standard specification for social responsibility and the role of ambassadors of responsibility and community partnership to lead efforts to adopt a standard specification for social responsibility in Arab countries.  The event also witnessed the official announcement of the opening of the "Regional Network for Social Responsibility" office in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the Amman Arab University headquarters.
