Amman Arab University has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by securing first place among Jordan's private universities and second place across all Jordanian institutions in the prestigious Scimago Institutions Rankings 2025. The university has also been classified within the elite Q1 category of top global universities, marking an unprecedented international achievement.
The university emerged as Jordan's leader in scientific research output and claimed the top national position in computer science, engineering, and aviation sciences. Regionally, it ranked first in engineering and aviation disciplines and second in computer science among Arab and Middle Eastern universities – a testament to its sustained academic leadership and research excellence.
Commenting on this achievement, Professor Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, expressed profound pride in this qualitative leap, praising the collective efforts of university staff. "These results validate our institution's academic distinction, research innovation, and societal impact," he stated, highlighting ongoing investments in educational program development and interdisciplinary research advancement.
Dr. Al-Widyan emphasized that securing this prestigious ranking for the third consecutive year reinforces confidence in the university's trajectory toward global prominence and cements its standing among leading national and international institutions. He particularly noted the competitive edge of university graduates in both local and international job markets.
The Scimago Rankings, published since 2009 by Spain-based Scimago Lab – a consortium of renowned global research institutions – evaluates academic entities through three weighted indicators: scientific research (50%), innovation (30%), and societal impact (20%). These encompass 17 sub-indicators for comprehensive institutional assessment.
