Having these objectives in mind, an elite of eminent members of the Jordanian society including academics, scholars, professionals and businessmen made a joint preconceived move to establish  Amman Arab University for Graduate Studies as a non-profit private university which aims to pursue its  mission with the utmost integrity, to implement its functions, and to achieve its goals effectively at both  the Jordanian and the Arab national levels.

 Founding a distinguished university for graduate studies parallel to  the world premier universities was  not the only reason for establishing A.A.U. another reason was to offer a new model for private university education that is possibly the sole of its kind in the Arab world.

 It is well-known that the highest ranking and most reputable universities in the world are the private non-profit universities which are supervised and run by charitable societies or other representative parties.  Such universities play a crucial role in the comprehensive developmental process, change and  restructuring of communities in terms of scientific, cultural, intellectual and technological functions.

 In light of the aforementioned considerations, A.A.U. has been designed, since its inception, to contribute to the developmental process, enlightenment and intellectual, cultural, scientific and technological advancement in addition to its contribution towards the creation of an intelligentsia capable of independent thinking, research, creativity and concerned with social issues and problems,   seeking at the same time to find the best solutions for these problems, not merely in Jordan , but in the  Arab World.
